Fatigue

Fatigue is one of the most common health complaints by many. It may seem harmless, but once it becomes aggravated, it can pose a lot of serious consequences. Unfortunately, many of these consequences not only affect the health, but many aspects n a person's life.

What It Is

Medically speaking, fatigue is the lack of energy. It is synonymous to being weary and tired that can lead one to have a strong sense of need to sleep. However, with these words, it should not be confused with drowsiness. A person who feels fatigued may or may not feel drowsy, but a person who is drowsy may not even be tired.

What Causes Fatigue

There are a lot of things that causes fatigue in an individual. For one thing, it could be due to stress. What is fascinating to note is that people face a lot of things that can be called as stressors. These can be ordinary things such as a job, or an event, or even a certain person.

Basically, a stressor is something that a person perceives as either good or bad and can result to certain reactions in the body. These are classified into two: internal and external stressors. Whichever one a person experiences, if his body can not keep up with it, he will most likely end up having the ill effects. This is why a person will have various health problems from seemingly simple stress headaches to potentially serious ones such as the lack of appetite.

Another popular reason for a person to become tired is experiencing too much anxiety. This is properly defined as the reaction that is normal when a person is stressed out. When the higher the level or the more constant the frequency the individual feels this, the more he is likely to feel burned out and thus, tired.

Probably the most important thing to know about having the lack of energy is that it could be a sign or symptom of a specific disease. A person who has anemia constantly feels tired as he does not have enough oxygen in his body to make the cells survive high levels of activities. Diseases of the heart, lungs, nutritional disorders, chronic lack of sleep,  Headache , Nausea and even arthritis are just some of the many health problems that can cause a person to feel constantly tired.

One good note about fatigue is that aside from diseases, it can also be a side effect of a certain drug. From pain killers to antibiotics, a person can experience it when taking a certain medication. When this happens, one should take extra steps in adjusting his schedule of activities to prevent accidents from happening.
